Beneath the noise.
A deeper listening.
Sound for rest and return — sessions, workshops and listening practices in Berlin and beyond.
☾ The Practitioner ☽
I'm Daisy — a sonic artist, educator and certified sound therapy practitioner, working under the name Macalla (the vessel for my therapeutic sound and vibrational care practices). My practice lives where sound, the body and slow attention meet: in one-to-one sessions, group sound meditations, workshops, immersive soundscapes and sonic art. Across all of it, the thread is listening — the body as an instrument of listening and sound not only as something to hear, but as a way to settle, gather, connect and relate.I came to sound as an artist first. Trained in fine art, I worked for years with painting, material and texture before I found that sound reached something the others couldn't — it moved through the body, shifted my perception of time, and offered a profound path back to myself. That discovery became the heart of my work: making spaces where people can rest, listen deeply, and return to a felt sense of themselves. The way I listen is shaped by my Irish and Aotearoa New Zealand roots, where listening is relational — a way of staying connected to place, land, and the people who came before. I bring that quality of attention, along with a slow, trauma-informed care, to everything I make.
Weaving together creativity, intuition and a grounded understanding of nervous system science, I help people slow down and find their way back to a settled, embodied sense of themselves.“Awareness is listening.”

What happens in a session?
☾ You lie down. You settle. And then the listening begins. ☽There's no script to what follows. I work with an open presence — listening to the room as much as playing to it — and let what's needed shape the sound. Gongs, singing bowls, chimes, tuning forks, voice. Interval, resonance, frequency. A sound bed builds around you, and through you — felt in the body as much as heard.Just as much of the session lives in the space between sounds. Silence isn't the absence of the work; it's where the deepest listening happens — where the body catches up, and something quieter underneath gets room to surface. Some sessions stay soft and spacious. Some carry more intensity. It depends on who's in front of me, and what the moment asks.Slowly, the body softens. The breath deepens on its own. The busy surface of the mind can begin to still, the way it does at the threshold of sleep — a shift I work with deliberately, drawing on how sound shapes the states we move through. Nothing to interpret, nothing to get right. Just noticing what moves through you, and letting it.In 1:1 sessions, this can also include hands-on tuning-fork work — weighted forks rested gently on or near the body, vibration you feel more than hear. Slow, gentle, always with your consent.Come tired, curious, overstimulated, or simply in need of stillness. No experience needed — only ears, and a willingness to rest.
A little of the why (the science, gently)
Slow, sustained sound in a calm space supports the body's shift out of a stressed, alert state and toward its "rest-and-restore" mode — the same system that governs deep rest and recovery. Steady, rhythmic sound can also guide the mind toward calmer, more spacious attention, which is why a session can feel like the threshold of sleep. It isn't magic, and it isn't a cure — it's the nervous system doing what it's designed to do, given the space to slow down.
Sessions & offerings
I offer individual and group sound healing experiences designed to restore nervous system balance, support emotional regulation, and align the body’s energy systems. Each session uses vibration as a therapeutic tool, helping the body and mind shift from stress into relaxation.1:1 Sound Sessions (60 or 90 min)
A personalised session shaped to how you arrive that day, weaving tuning forks, singing bowls, voice and gentle hands-on tuning-fork work. Slow, trauma-informed, and built around what your system needs — space for held tension to soften, for the nervous system to settle, and for deep rest. Many people leave calmer, clearer, and more connected to themselves.
Collaborations & Special Projects
Custom sonic experiences for workshops, installations and multi-sensory events — designed around the space and the people in it, creating rooms where resonance, restoration and connection can be felt.
Group Sound Meditations & Journeys
Immersive shared sessions blending acoustic and, at times, electronic textures — layered sound to rest into together, supporting a collective settling and a sense of grounding and presence. Ideal for community gatherings, retreats, and intimate groups.
Participants are guided through shared vibrations that entrain brainwaves, support collective nervous system regulation, and encourage a sense of grounding and presence.Weekly in Berlin
The Listening Body · Saturday 15:30 · Cosmos Studio Berlin.
An immersive sound meditation. A pause in the middle of the weekend. Listening with more than the ears. There is no right way to arrive, nor any experience needed. Whether you're frazzled, tired, wired, soft — your state is welcome. You're invited to get comfortable, lying down if that feels good, and let layered sound and vibration do the moving for a while. The tone is slow and unhurried — a steady field of resonance you can rest inside. The sound gives the body something steady to lean on, and as it settles, the nervous system tends to follow, slipping out of effort and into rest. Each week takes its own shape, drawn from nature and built in layers of resonance and texture. You might hear gong, Tibetan and crystal bowls, chimes, layered drones. Often there are field recordings of the natural world, and earth transmissions woven through — my own recordings of tuning forks sounded through trees, wood and soil. The space itself becomes an instrument; your listening body too. The form follows the room, the season, and whoever walks in the door — so no two Saturdays sound quite the same.Sometimes we open with deep listening, a practice that anchors and opens us gently, remembering the body as an instrument of perception. The invitation is to stop steering for a while and trust that the body knows what to do. We close with a simple practice to land again. Most people leave a little more settled than they came, a little quieter inside.Beneath the noise. Who's it for?
For anyone wanting to rest a busy nervous system, find some quiet, or reconnect with the body. People come for many reasons — stress and overwhelm, chronic tension, emotional release, grounding, deep rest, or navigating a life transition.
This work is open to everyone, and I bring particular care to those carrying more than most. I've held space for people navigating ADHD and sensory sensitivity, trauma and PTSD, cancer, and the postpartum months — as well as for palliative care staff, the people who spend their days holding others. Always with care, and without pressure: sound sits alongside medical and psychological support, never in place of it.Many people leave feeling softer, calmer, and more connected to themselves.
My Process
However I'm working — a live session, a composition, a sound piece — I follow the sound rather than a fixed plan, listening and shaping in the moment. I'm drawn to resonance, to the spaces between sounds, and to the textures of the natural world; much of my material comes from listening closely to places and letting them speak. For me, making and restoring aren't separate — both begin with paying attention.Alongside Macalla, I make experimental sound work and perform under the name Ligeia — work that moves between the heavy and the soft, shadow and light, holding both rather than choosing. The two practices feed each other: one rests, one explores, and both begin in listening.

Deep listening & embodied listening
At the centre of everything I do is deep listening —
listening not only with the ears, but with the whole body and with full presence. It's the difference between hearing sound in the background and truly receiving it: letting it land, feeling where it moves in you, and staying with what arises.Embodied listening treats the body itself as an instrument of attention. When we listen this way — slowly, without needing to analyse or respond — the nervous system tends to settle, and a different kind of awareness opens: more spacious, more connected, more here. This is the ground my sessions rest on, and it's a practice you can carry far beyond the room. The term Deep Listening was coined by the composer Pauline Oliveros, whose work drew a distinction I return to often: the difference between hearing, which happens on its own, and listening, which asks for our whole attention. Her thinking is part of the lineage this practice grows from.

Workshops for teams & organisations
✺ Wellbeing Sessions and workshops ✺
I offer sound-based wellbeing sessions for workplaces and teams — a chance for people to step out of stress and into rest together. A typical session weaves three things: a little of the science of sound and the nervous system, simple practices people can use in their own everyday, and a closing sound bath to let everyone properly unwind. They work well for high-pressure teams and as a genuinely restorative wellbeing day or offsite.
Caring for Carers —
I also bring this work into care settings. I've delivered a workshop for hospice and palliative-care staff: practical, compassionate tools for the people who spend their days holding others. Supporting those in caring professions — where burnout is real and rest is scarce — is some of the work I find most meaningful.

In schools & with young people
Alongside my sessions, I bring sound and deep listening into work with children and young people. Drawing on my background as an educator, I design and hold programmes that use sound, listening and embodied play to help young people slow down, focus, and connect — with themselves, each other, and the world around them. I'm always open to collaborations with schools and organisations working with children.
